The industry leaders and taste makers that is Obey, The hundreds, Mishka, BBC and the list goes on, have undoubtedly had their fair share of the ups and downs when it comes to learning about the process of getting the brand where they wanted it to be. So this is our story so far……
Online shopping was the driving force….. Back when GolfOscarDelta first hit the scene (a good 5 years ago), online shopping wasn’t as common as it is now. However, we knew then that this was going to be the next big thing!
So when 5 ageing dancers decided to hang up their dancing shoes, they quickly found it frustrating not being able to have an outlet for their talents and creativity. So, with a graphic designer, a talented illustrator, an aspiring entrepeneur, a sneaker head, an organisation nazi within their ranks and all sharing a common knack for fashion, it was inevitable that GolfOscarDelta would be born and unleashed on this world.
What started out as a hobby, quickly turned into a small business, which to this day is gaining momentum, fast.
From their simple designs of yesteryear to the more detailed, complete and multi applicated designs from their current collection, let’s look back on the journey and see how far GolfOscarDelta has come.
It’s has been a long road for this fashion house so far, but you will soon discover that their designs have matured after being able to developed a sense for each others taste and how they have used this to continually release new collections with obvious improvements each time.
The rookie collection.
Designed on an old PC, the collection was designed with “branding” in mind. It was to be simple yet obvious to the world that GolfOscarDelta was here. This collection would eventually include 3 designs with 3 different colourways each.
The “Signature logo” tee -
In a metallic Gold paint, the signature was screenprinted on classic coloured tees of white, black and a very fresh colour, purple. This design will prove to be the seller of the trio and would stamp GolfOscarDelta on to the street wear scene in Sydney.
The “GolfOscarDelta” tee -
Targetted at the younger generation aswell as the ladies in mind, this tee would spell out who we were. With the brand’s name laid on top of a psychadelic type pattern, it was screen printed on very vibrant coloured tees such as yellow, royal blue and green.
The “Jesus Walks with me” tee -
With a caricature of Jesus Christ and the words, “Walks with me” underneath, this tee was GolfOscarDelta’s proclamation to the world that we are His witnesses. This tee was printed on white, red and blue shirts and would also prove to be another quick seller.
Golfoscardelta’s sophmore collection
After a 2 year hiatus, G.O.D released their second collection and boldly proclaimed, “We’re back and back in a big way!” This time adding to their artillery a major manufacturer which equiped them with a new factory to work out of and endless production capabilities. The second collection demonstrated the brand’s growth in confidence. It boasted 3 tees and 2 tanks with a more subtle and classic feel. The designs and colourways weren’t as loud. They were subtle, simple and very clean. The screen printer was put aside to make way for more advanced and sophisticated applications such as, Flocking, Embroidery, Rubberised print and even Treated Fabric. This collection was considerably more polished, professional and retail worthy. It would also be the first collection that GolfOscarDelta would bring to the general public. The brand ventured into the botique type pop up markets and were welcomed by the Young Australians Designers Market to showcase their collection. This was a major milestone for G.O.D as the YADM pop up stores helped to spread the word out to the streets of Sydney that there was an emerging label that was making big moves in the scene.
Golfoscardelta’s third and current collection.
The third and current instalment from GolfOscarDelta is a true testament of how far they had come. No longer were they afraid of playing it safe, the crew outdid themselves by releasing a very eclectic collection. Focused on being a mens label and covering different demographics, genres and sub cultures, this collection catapulted the brand into Tshirt local stardom. Still, subtle, simple and very clean. The loud and fun designs made a resurection and found its place in the collection. With witty word plays such as “put your hands together”, they reminded the world what they were about. However, if the meaning of that phrase eluded you, they hit it home and out of the park when they boldly printed the words “KEEP CALM AND PRAY” on a bright teal coloured tee. As the “about” write up says, There’s a meaning to the name, only if you seek it.
This collection opened up all types of doors and it was to be milestones galore for GolfOscarDelta. Starting off with a pop store in Westfield Parramatta during Christmas week, this brought about another opportunity in which to showcase GolfOscarDelta’s talents. With record sales figures and excellent customer feedback, it was only a matter of time when the stockists would come around. One in particular was a manager of the famous Fadez barbershop. They saw what G.O.D had to offer and loved it. So now, the shirts hang on their store racks in Newtown. Not content on this achievement, GolfOscarDelta chased their dreams and what fuelled this whole thing from the begining, an online store! Not just any online store, but a giant and an industry leader, ASOS. G.O.D’s collection can now be found on the virtual boutique racks at the ASOS marketplace. It was a dream come true in the space of 5 years. With progress like this, who knows what the next 5 years will bring to the GolfOscarDelta crew?
One thing is for sure, this is only a preview of what is to come out of the house of G.O.D. As one of the boys said, “GolfOscarDelta is here to stay! Come take a ride with us and we will make sure to give you a bang for your buck. We’ll take you to another place on our next collection and then to another with the one after. So jump in and get comfortable cause it’s off to the skies we go! What comes next? Only GolfOscarDelta knows.”
